The
144 islands of the Bay of Islands Maritime Park and the beautiful coastal
townships are a ‘must see’ for any holiday maker to New Zealand’s winterless
north. Site of New Zealand’s earliest European settlement and original capital
at Russell, the region has an abundance of both historical and natural wonders
to explore. Maori and colonial era sites dot the area together with ancient
Kaori forests, pristine beaches and coasts; home to an immense array of marine
life and coastal birds.
The Bay of Islands are a great base to explore the region of Northland, from
Cape Reinga in the far north, Ninety Mile Beach on the west coast, the Kaori
forests in the centre and the watery playgrounds of the Bay of Islands on the
east coast.

 |
|
As one of New Zealand’s favourite holiday spots the Bay of Islands has
accommodation to suit any budget and activities from complete relaxation to
extreme sports.
Situated in the far north the weather is sub-tropical with no
frosts and you will even see the odd bananas growing in the warmth. The Bay of
Islands are a great winter escape but with year round appeal.
